Manuscript reviews

Reviews are often the first step a writer takes after finishing one or two drafts of their manuscript. I offer objective, thorough, professional critique on all aspects of a manuscript.

Are you ready for an outside reader to look at your manuscript? Get in touch using the form below!

When I review a manuscript, I return two files. The first is your manuscript, marked up (via Word's Track Changes) with some notes, correcting repeated mistakes, letting you know my immediate thoughts and questions regarding the book as I read it. I'll do some copyediting to show you how to fix any repeated errors, but mainly I leave comments to show a reader's in-the-moment reactions to your work.

The second file I send is anywhere from approximately three to fifteen pages depending on the length of the manuscript (three pages would be for a children’s picture book, for example) or how many issues I see with it. I include detailed notes and suggestions regarding writing quality, plot, characters, content, technical errors, setting, etc.

I also recommend next steps. I'll let you know whether your book is ready to submit to publishing companies or whether it needs a full round of copyediting. I'm also available to continue helping with cover letters and book summaries if you're ready to start submitting to publishing companies at no extra charge.
